Tom Sayer has his own practice with a number of clients primarily in the Hospitality Industry, but the bulk of his practice involves serving as Outside General Counsel for Pacifica Companies.
Since joining the Pacifica Companies team in 1998, Mr. Sayer has overseen all legal aspects of the company, including documentation of all of Pacifica’s acquisition, sale, financing and refinancing transactions and managing all litigation. Under his tenure, the Company has grown from approximately $100 million in total assets to well over $3.5 billion in assets. The most significant current and high-profile projects to which he has contributed include the Chula Vista Bayfront project, the redevelopment of the Seacoast Inn in Imperial Beach, and the Grover Beach Lodge project. Each of these projects involves multi-disciplinary legal management interfacing with numerous governmental agencies, environmental groups and private stakeholders.
Before embarking on his own practice and joining the Pacifica Companies team, Mr. Sayer spent 10+ years as a trial attorney with a prestigious San Diego law firm. His practice focused on real estate and commercial litigation.
Mr. Sayer is a graduate of Cornell University, where he received a BS with honors in Hotel Administration. He is a graduate of the California Western School of Law where her graduated third in his class. He is currently licensed to practice before all of the state and federal courts in the State of California.
Mr. Sayer’s community service is varied and significant. Since the inception of the program, Mr. Sayer has taught the Hospitality Law course at San Diego State University’s L. Robert Payne School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. For over 15-years he has served on the Board of the San Diego Hotel-Motel Association and is Past President and Charter Member of the San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club.
