Founded in 1978 by Mr. Ashok (Ash) Israni, Pacifica Companies is headquartered in San Diego, California and is comprised of over 100 different entities. Most of Pacifica’s assets are owned individually by single-purpose companies. Pacifica is especially active in the apartment and condo markets.
In 2003, Pacifica was ranked the number two home builder in San Diego as reported by San Diego Metropolitan Magazine. Maintaining that position through 2004, Pacifica rose to the number one builder in the first quarter of 2005 (view report). Pacifica continued as the leading builder in San Diego County for the entire year of 2005 (view reports: 2ndQtr 3rdQtr 4thQtr).

Pacifica Hosts, Inc., the hotel management arm of Pacifica Companies, currently manages over 30 hotels of various sizes, the largest being a 600-room hotel at Los Angeles International Airport. Pacifica Hosts also owns and operates the 355-room Windham Hotel in San Jose and the 270-room Marriott Hotel in Phoenix-Mesa. Pacifica hotels are affiliated with many well-known franchise names such as Marriott, Holiday Inn, Radisson, and Double Tree. Pacifica Hosts has consistently been rated among the largest hotel companies in the country.
Overall, Pacifica Companies currently has approximately $2 billion in assets and employs over 2300 people.
Both 2004 and 2005 were very successful years for Pacifica. During 2004, Pacifica completed approximately $700 million in acquisitions, and in 2005, Pacifica acquired approximately $1 billion in properties. These acquisitions included hotels, apartment complexes, a large mixed-use development project, and an 850-acre parcel with 250 estate lots.
